Belt Making Tour
Take a Tour and see what goes into a Maida's Handcrafted Belt:

Maida's processes 25 belts at a time in color batches. Usually cognac, dark brown, then black.

Maida's uses only #1 Grade French Tanned hides. Each is hand selected and closely examined before cutting.

The hides are carefully marked and cut into strips. A master craftsman then splices the strips together leaving an almost invisible connection.
Solid Steer hide backing is used on all belts. The edges are beveled to reduce the side wall thickness, creating a sleek finish.

The belt facing is then glued to the solid leather backing. Notice fillers are not used in the center.

When belts have a sewn edge, 100% nylon thread is used for added strength.

The edges are burnished and edge dressing is applied by hand for a professional finish.
Snaps are inserted into the buckle end of all belts for easy buckle interchanging.
Matching belt loops are applied to all belts.
The final step is hand stamping our makers mark, logos and genuine skin type.
